Apart from trying Portuguese cuisine in Macau, you must also taste the crab congee. If you're looking for a more authentic restaurant, Yi Ge Gourmet in Yau Hon is worth a visit. Located in the old streets of Yau Hon, this small eatery attracts many locals and tourists with its genuine Macau flavors and lively atmosphere. During dinner hours, the place is bustling with people, making it a spot full of local charm.
Upon arriving at Hei Sha Wan Seventh Street, the illuminated signboard and red neon letters of Yi Ge Gourmet catch your eye, standing out on the nighttime streets. Although the shop is small, there are many diners queuing at the entrance, creating a lively yet nostalgic vibe. The interior is simple, mostly furnished with stainless steel and glass, with small tables and stools filling the space, reflecting the traditional style of Macau's street-side eateries.
We arrived relatively early, so we quickly got a seat and ordered several signature dishes. The first dish served was the Abalone Chicken Pot, a steaming hot pot of chicken and abalone. The broth was rich, the chicken tender and smooth, complemented by scallions and ginger slices, delivering authentic flavors in every bite.
The crab congee, which we specifically came for, was even more delightful. The congee base was creamy and smooth, paired with fresh crab meat, offering a sweet and savory taste that was irresistible. Additionally, we ordered pig's blood, shrimp rice rolls, and roasted pigeon. Every dish was outstanding.
This experience at Yi Ge Gourmet was truly unforgettable. The authentic flavors and lively environment allowed me to immerse myself in Macau's street food culture.
