Kuthodaw Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa located at the base of the southeast stairways to Mandalay Hill.
Constructed in 1857 by King Mindon, houses what is recognized as the World’s Largest Book. The “book” consists of 729 marble slabs, each housed in its own small white stupas known as kyauksa gu (stone-inscription caves), all together make up the entirety of Theravāda Buddhism’s religious canon.
