My family and I visited Fukuoka this time, and one of our top attractions was Mount Aso. We chose to stay at Aso Hakuun Sanso for two nights. We were very satisfied with the clean, comfortable environment. We even had the opportunity to set off small handheld fireworks with other guests at night, which delighted the children.
The next morning, we were transported from the hotel to Takachiho Gorge for a boat trip. It took about an hour, and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery while paddling. This is a highly recommended must-do activity.
In the afternoon, we visited the Aso Nakadake crater to see the smoke from Mount Aso up close. There were also many other scenic spots along the way, such as Sengusa Garden and Komezuki Matcha Pudding.
We recommend setting aside two days for this trip, so that if the weather isn't as expected, we can complete any missed attractions on the second day.
