Japan's Southernmost Point on the Mainland, Sata Misaki

From Kagoshima, take the JR train past Ibusuki to Yamagawa Station. Then, walk for 30 minutes to Yamagawa Port. Finally, take a ferry and a sightseeing bus to reach Sata Misaki, located in Minami-Osumi.

After getting off the bus, you can receive a certificate at the information center. Enter the nearby tunnel, and you'll find a forest reminiscent of scenes from movies or Southeast Asia.

Walking along the forest path, you'll encounter a shrine, statues, and an observation deck. On clear days, you can privately enjoy the stunning scenery.

On the way back, I made time to visit Nishioyama Station, the southernmost JR station. Although walking under the scorching summer heat was exhausting, it was a memorable journey to the southernmost point.
