Iya Onsen, located deep in the mountains of Tokushima Prefecture, is a hidden hot spring with a rare open-air bath accessible only by cable car. The natural hot spring water, directly from the source at the bottom of the valley, is truly a "secluded, exquisite retreat." ♨️🍃

When I actually visited, I was thrilled from the cable car ride down the valley, and upon arrival, I was greeted by a spectacular open-air bath surrounded by the sounds of a babbling brook and the green mountains! The water was lukewarm, allowing for long soaks. It gently warmed me from the inside out, truly rejuvenating my soul. 🧖♀️✨

Enjoy a quiet soak with your partner, or simply enjoy nature on your own. While day trips are available, we recommend staying overnight and enjoying morning baths and stargazing baths. Next time, I'd like to visit for an overnight stay during the fall foliage season! 🍁
