When people mention France 🇫🇷, Paris immediately comes to mind. Indeed, Paris, as the city of romance and art, is full of endless charm. But when it comes to the word vacation, most French people think of the South of France, where there is perfect weather, green mountains and clear waters, the Azure Coast, delicious food and wine, charming small towns, and a relaxed atmosphere in the air.
Here is a summary of the South of France vacation spots I have visited. Some are famous, some are hidden gems, and all have given me wonderful memories:
P1,15,16: Ramatuelle, located in Provence in southern France, is a town full of Mediterranean charm. Although close to popular tourist destinations, it maintains a quiet and simple atmosphere, making it a treasure town to escape the hustle and enjoy tranquility.
P2,5,7,8: The blue gem of the South of France, in my heart the most beautiful lake in France—Lac de Sainte-Croix. Here you can enjoy water activities like kayaking, full of energy and relaxation.
P3,9,11,18: Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (what a long name) is probably the most magical mountain village in Provence. It is nestled between rocky cliffs, with houses built on the slopes and waterfalls flowing through. The scenery is magnificent, and it is famous for its ceramics and historic buildings.
P10,12-14: L’île de Porquerolles is a charming island in the Mediterranean Sea in southern France, with crystal-clear waters, dense vegetation, and friendly wild boar babies 🐗 (they are local celebrities, regularly sunbathing by the sea. Because they often see people, they are not afraid and can be photographed up close, but do not touch them). As part of a national park, it is strictly protected and perfect for snorkeling, hiking, boating, escaping the noise, and getting close to nature.
How to get there: A half-hour boat ride from the town of Hyères.
P4,17: Saint-Tropez, the happy old home of European old money and Hollywood stars, attracts many tourists (the wealthy hide on private yachts or in top resorts). Prices are very high, so it’s best to just come for a visit.
Of course, if your budget allows, you can also shop at Hermès here, stay at the White Horse Hotel, try the Michelin-starred restaurants, and experience the top luxury atmosphere of Europe.
