🥢 Kimukatsu Grand Batam Mall – A Letdown Despite the Hype

We were drawn to Kimukatsu at Grand Batam Mall after seeing decent Google reviews, but sadly, the dining experience fell far below our expectations.
We ordered the cheese wagyu katsu set, which sounded indulgent on the menu, but when it arrived, the crust was soft and gooey instead of being crispy — a major disappointment. Even worse, the katsu was cold upon serving, and diners were expected to grill the smaller pieces themselves on a mini hot plate. That concept might work for some, but for me, it took away from the dining experience.
The chicken katsu fared slightly better in taste and texture. However, the cabbage portion was extremely stingy — barely more than a mouthful. For a set meal, this felt quite lacking.
Despite a quiet restaurant in the late afternoon, the service was slow, and the food took longer than expected to arrive. Overall, Kimukatsu didn’t live up to the online praise, and I probably wouldn’t return.
