[Aichi] The amazing green Great Buddha! Nagoya Great Buddha!

Senryuzan Toganji is a Soto Zen temple located in Chikusa Ward, Nagoya City. It was built in the Tenbun era to commemorate the soul of Oda Nobuhide!

The main image is a statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon, said to have been made by Eshin Sozu, and the grounds include the Nagoya Daibutsu and "Sleeping Benzaiten"☝🏽

✍️Main Attractions
Nagoya Daibutsu: A 10-meter-tall bronze Buddha built in 1987. Its green exterior was designated by the previous chief priest during the 2006 renovation. There are also statues of elephants and deer on the pedestal, which are popular with visitors!

Sleeping Benzaiten: The "Sleeping Benzaiten", which is open to the public from January 1st to 5th and May 7th and 8th, is a Benzaiten enshrined in a corner of the grounds, and is popular as "Sleeping Benzaiten".

Japan's largest mokugyo: A giant mokugyo measuring 1 meter in diameter is on display in the temple grounds. You'll be amazed at its size! #0yentravelJanuary2025
