Experience Okinawa’s Heritage at Shuri Castle 🌞🏯
Ready for a slice of history surrounded by beauty? Shuri Castle stands tall as Naha’s iconic landmark, showcasing stunning Chinese-influenced architecture, vibrant red walls, and sweeping views over the city—especially magical under a sunny sky!
Walking Route & Must-Dos:
Begin at the impressive front gate and stroll the main approach, passing through ornate arches before heading indoors to explore exhibition halls detailing the castle’s Ryukyu past. Climb up to the highest vantage point—it’s perfect for panoramic shots of Naha (even with some renovation going on, the viewpoint’s still unbeatable!). Soak in the mix of ancient design set against tropical greenery, with other trees and gardens adding splashes of calm.
Photo Spots:
Snap the classic wide-angle shot with castle towers and blue sky in the backdrop. The exhibition hall’s interiors, and the overlook with modern cityscape beyond, are both must-captures. For a serene vibe, frame local trees beside the bold castle walls!
Visiting Tips:
The castle has been under renovation, so parts may be closed or hidden behind scaffolding (I felt a bit sad, but the views are still worth it). Arrive early for fewer crowds, and check opening hours depending on the season—summer evenings last longer! Admission is ¥400. Pack a bottle of water, sunscreen, and wear comfy shoes, as the grounds are spacious.
