Nanjing in autumn is a soft, cinematic kind of beautiful — the kind that sneaks up on you. Gingko leaves line the streets like golden confetti, and the ancient city walls seem to glow in the late afternoon sun 🍂🧱
There’s a kind of stillness here that fits the season. We wandered beneath flame-red maples at Zhongshan Mountain, watched the slow ripples on Xuanwu Lake, and listened to temple bells echo through the trees near Jiming Temple — where autumn seems to move in slow motion. 🍃
And the food? Just as grounding and gentle.
🍜 We had a simple bowl of vegetarian noodles at Jiming Temple — light, clean, and quietly comforting. Maybe it was the incense in the air or the chill in the breeze, but that bowl of noodles felt like a moment of peace.
🍽️ Later, we dove into the lively contrast of Nanjing Dapaidang — warm lights, clinking plates, and all the local classics. Salty duck, little street-style snacks, and dishes that tasted like nostalgia.
If summer is for exploring and spring is for blooming, then autumn in Nanjing is for feeling — and remembering.
A season, and a city, that lingers long after you leave.
