Hakusan Shrine, the main guardian deity of Niigata, is located in Niigata City's Chuo Ward. It is said to have been enshrined from Hakusan Hime Shrine in Kaga during the Heian period, and has long been a place of worship known as Echigo's Ichinomiya.
Although it is located in the heart of the city, the grounds are lush and quiet.
The shrine is located within Hakusan Park, and is a great place to take a leisurely stroll while admiring the seasonal flowers.
This power spot, said to grant blessings for matchmaking, protection from evil, and household safety, is easily accessible from Niigata Station and Hakusan Station, and is conveniently located for easy access by foot, bicycle, bus, or taxi.
If you're sightseeing in Niigata, it's a good idea to visit Hakusan Shrine first!
