⛴️ Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake

The moment I encountered it in Otsu, near Kyoto,

I initially thought it was the ocean 🌊

It was so vast and expansive that I couldn't believe it was a lake.

The mountains and villages surrounding the lake blended together,

and I could feel the different atmospheres each season.

In summer, the blue waters were refreshing,

and in winter, the snowy landscape created a different charm ❄️.

When I visited, just walking along the water's edge
was enough to heal me,
and stopping by a small cafe and enjoying a coffee while looking out at the lake was truly a relaxing experience ☕✨.

Living up its title as "Japan's largest," it offers a landscape of a different scale.

I highly recommend it as a half-day stop during your Kyoto trip! 🚋
