.. Located on Damnoen Kasem Road, Khlong Krachaeng Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province, in the heart of the city in Phetchaburi Municipality

.. There is no clear evidence of when it was built, but it is assumed that it was built during the Dvaravati - Sukhothai periods, approximately 800 - 1,000 years ago, because many remains of Dvaravati bricks were excavated.

.. Inside the main chapel of Wat Mahathat, there is an important Buddha image, namely Luang Pho Sak Sit, Wat Mahathat. Behind the main chapel is the five-spire prang inside the covered chapel. To the south of the main chapel is the small chapel. Wat Mahathat Worawihan also built a museum of the temple, which is a collection of art and various history of the temple for those interested to visit.
