Wat Kasatrathirat Worawihan is a beautiful, historically significant, third-class royal temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Its history and convenient access are as follows:
🏛️ Brief History
Wat Kasatrathirat Worawihan was originally called "Wat Kasattra" or "Wat Kasattraram." It is assumed to have been built by the king or royal family during the Ayutthaya period, as the temple's name means "Temple of the King."
During the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, the temple was damaged and abandoned. During the Rattanakosin period, His Royal Highness Prince Anurak Thewet (Thong-in) initiated renovations and renamed the temple "Wat Kasatrathirat." Later, during the reign of King Rama II, a major renovation was undertaken, and in 1977, the temple was elevated to the status of a third-class royal temple, Worawihan type.
