Phu Quoc Island Hotel|Top Choice for a Huge Infinity Pool and Sunset Views

Initially, our room wasn't ready, and then they attempted to give me one facing the road, though I paid extra for a quieter top-floor option—definitely not ideal. Another hour passed before another room was ready at 4:30, really a poor beginning. The rooms are acceptable, featuring nice balcony furniture and a comfortable bed, but they lack storage, and understanding the lighting system is tricky. The breakfast buffet is decent, but the sausage and bacon are always cold—the heaters don't work well. The egg and banh mi stations are fantastic, as is the granola—crispy and delicious with added raisins and pumpkin seeds, delightful with strawberry yogurt. Salt and pepper are either not refilled or missing, which reflects a lack of attention from the staff; if small details are ignored, bigger issues won't be handled effectively. The pool is awesome, yet there’s no station for attendants, and inexplicably, towels are given out by reception and left in rooms when serviced—perhaps follow what most hotels do and have attendants manage them. The pool bar is nice, but their loud Asian pop music in the evenings is awful—clashing with classical piano music at the Thai restaurant on the other side. Despite requesting it to be turned down, it was deemed 'the rule'—pointless when I’m the only one swimming. This dampened a few nights when there was no band and I was swimming late. I came to swim, not to have it ruined by obnoxious music that’s too loud—acceptable during the day, but not at night. The beach is great, although the loungers are too close together—perhaps place some on the grass. The pool bar lacks seating, and the lobby bar feels more like a corridor—if you want it as a bar, add some ambiance like a piano and make seating inviting. The Thai restaurant was excellent, and lunches at the other restaurant were okay, nothing remarkable. It's conveniently close to great spots, but do check reviews first—lots of pricey yet disappointing seafood nearby. We enjoyed our stay overall, but I wouldn't wholeheartedly recommend it until it decides its identity—if aiming for luxury, it misses in many areas; if mid-grade, it's passable. The plastic loungers with metal frames and natural pads symbolize a lack of clear direction—it was our third choice and felt accordingly. Rob
