📍 Location
Liuqiu Township, Pingtung County, is located in the southwest of Taiwan Island. It is the only coral reef island in Taiwan. It can be visited back and forth on the same day and is also suitable for a two-day and one-night trip.

🚢 Transportation
1. Go to Donggang Pier:
You can take the high-speed rail to Zuoying Station and then take the bus to the "Donggang Transfer Station". It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the pier.
2. Take a boat to Xiaoliuqiu:
Take a ferry from Donggang Pier to Baishawei Pier. The journey takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
3. Transportation after arrival:
It is recommended to rent an electric scooter to travel around the island (there is no gas station on the island). One circle takes about 30 minutes and is easy and free.

📝 Personal experience
It was my first time to Xiaoliuqiu. As soon as I got off the boat, I felt the air was different, mixed with the smell of sea breeze and sun. When riding an electric scooter, you can just rely on your sense of direction even without a navigation system, and you won’t get too far if you get lost. The pace of the whole island is very slow, everyone is lazy, and soon you will accidentally slow down your breathing.
What impressed me most was the sea turtles. Whether snorkeling at Vase Rock, Shanfu Fishing Harbor, or near the Black Devil Cave, sea turtles have almost become the spokespersons of this island. They swim around you freely, as if you were the guest.
Although the food on the island is simple, the pure taste of fried flying fish, grilled squid, and handmade brown sugar ice will make you want to eat it again. Instead of going to the night market at night, I sit outside the B&B, enjoying the breeze and looking at the stars, which is more attractive than a mobile phone.
Xiaoliuqiu is not as lively as other tourist destinations, but it is precisely this kind of "no noise and no pretense" authenticity that makes people reluctant to leave once they arrive. If you want to take a break recently, Xiaoliuqiu is really a good choice.
