This northern island, forgotten by time, hides stunning seascapes that rival Southeast Asia! Lingshan Island—the highest island in northern China and the filming location for "The Island," features 12 scattered, untouched villages. After three visits, it still captivates me!
🚢 Complete Island Guide
▫️ For self-driving, navigate to Jimiya Wharf. Parking is capped at CNY 15 per day.
▫️ There are two daily ferry services (8:30am/1:20pm to the island, 9:00am/2:00pm return).
▫️ It is recommended to purchase a round-trip ticket for CNY 80. The journey is half an hour, with small waves to prevent seasickness.
▫️ For island tours, choose a sightseeing bus (CNY 60 per person for a shared ride, CNY 120–200 for a private car).
🗺️ Two-Day, One-Night Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and check in → Shell Art Museum → Painted Fishing Village → Geological Wonders Tour (Beilai Stone/Thousand-Layer Cliff/Elephant Trunk Hill)
Day 2: Sunrise over the sea → Tiger's Mouth Cliff Adventure → Lighthouse Visit → Seafood Feast → Return trip
📸 Must-See Spots
1️⃣ Shell Museum: A dreamy building made of millions of shells
2️⃣ Tiger's Mouth Cliff: A stunning view of a giant beast drinking from the sea at sunset
3️⃣ Nanshao Lighthouse: A landmark red and white coastline featured in the movie
4️⃣ Thousand-Layer Rock Wall: A natural geological textbook carved by the sea
🏡 Accommodation Recommendations
It is recommended to choose a scenic B&B near the lighthouse. The seaside courtyard where I stayed this time was a pleasant surprise—a 270° panoramic terrace facing the blue waves, a 30-second walk to the beach, and watching the sunset while soaking in a private hot spring is the right way to experience the island. For dinner, freshly caught fish, shrimp, and shellfish cost an average of CNY 80 per person for all the seafood you can eat!
💡 Travel Tips
✔️ The best time to visit is from May to October. Remember to bring sunscreen, hats, and light clothing.
✔️ Medical facilities on the island are limited, so bring common medicines.
✔️ There are few tourists on weekdays, so there is no need to compete for photo spots.
✔️ At low tide, you can experience the fun of beachcombing in the reef area.
This paradise, facing Qingdao across the sea, still maintains a slow-paced fishing village lifestyle. As the ferry leaves the pier, cell phone signals gradually weaken, but the inner peace index soars. Perhaps this is the meaning of escaping the city.
