|In the Zhou Li era, the whole world was centered around the Temple of Duke Zhou. Jining Qufu | Zhou Li in Lu, the world is united in Zhou Gong Temple

The Temple of Zhougong is a temple dedicated to Zhougong, a great thinker and politician in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. It is listed in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Duke of Zhou, whose surname was Ji and whose given name was Dan, was the fourth son of King Wen of Zhou and the younger brother of King Wu of Zhou. He assisted King Wu in defeating King Zhou and destroying the Shang Dynasty, and was granted the title of Duke of Lu for his merits. He stayed to assist King Cheng and his son Boqin was granted the title. 💡After Duke Zhou died, King Cheng ordered the State of Lu to build a temple to commemorate his achievements. After the fall of Lu, the temple was destroyed. The reconstruction of the original temple began in the first year of Dazhong Xiangfu in the Song Dynasty. It has been expanded and renovated many times during the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to form its current scale. It is surrounded by red walls and divided into four courtyards with 57 halls, halls, verandas, pavilions, gates and archways. There are more than 30 ancient steles from various dynasties. The temple is shaded by ancient and famous trees such as cypress, cedar, Chinese cypress and locust, which make it magnificent. 🔅

The main hall of the Zhougong Temple is called Yuansheng Temple. Because Zhougong was the founding ancestor of the State of Lu, the people of Lu called him "Yuan Gong" or "Yuan Sheng", hence the name. The main hall is five bays wide and three bays deep, with brackets, green tiles and colorfully painted hip roofs. There are three statues enshrined in the hall. In the middle is a statue of Duke Zhou. In the shrine on the east side is a statue of Duke Boqin of Lu. On the west side is a standing clay statue, which is a statue of a golden man. 🚶It is said that the "Inscription on the Golden Man" was completed in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. When Bo Qin, the son of Zhou Gong, was granted the title of Duke of Lu, Zhou Gong was afraid that he might lose his title, so he personally wrote the inscription on the back of the golden man of the old housekeeper. The "Inscription on the Golden Man" stele was erected in the 20th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. It was written by Kong Xianyi, the 72nd generation grandson of Confucius, who was a scholar from Qufu and served as a secretary in the Cabinet at that time. The inscription is written in the style of Liu Gongquan, with vigorous, handsome and charming brushstrokes. ✨️
