📍Address: The Ancient City, Samut Prakan (less than an hour away from bangkok)
🚆How-to-go: take a skytrain to Kheha Station. From Kheha station, take a tuktuk to Ancient City (just 5 minutes away, they charge 10 baht one-way per person)
💰Average Price per Person: Buy the ticket from Trip.com, it’s about RM40+ per person. DO NOT BUY on-site as the price is doubled.
🏖️Ambiance/Facilities: it’s very very big, not recommended to walk. rent a bike or golf cart is the best option.
Ancient City is an open air museum, built in the shape of thailand map, and they rebuilt thailand’s historical landmark there, following their real location in the map. it’s like touring the whole country in a few hours.
💫 One word: breathtaking!
The Royal Pavilion (Pavillion of the Enlightened) was the highlight of my entire visit, trust me, the photos don’t do it justice!
Set in the middle of a calm lotus pond, this golden-green masterpiece looks like something out of a fantasy movie. 🛕✨ Intricate carvings, stunning reflections, and peaceful surroundings — it felt like stepping into a fairytale.
It is inspired by Buddhist philosophy, about the story of 500 enlightened monks (Arahants) who attained enlightenment through different paths.
📸 Pro tip:
The best photo spot is across the pond — you’ll capture the full reflection (pic 5). Come here as early as possible because it’s packed with tourist at noon.
Some were authentic materials and some were rebuilt. there’re also newly built structure which are created based on an inspiration and also a landmark to honor the founder of this place.
