Sapporo, memories of a city as clear and warm as snow

#August Travel Grant

Arriving in Sapporo, the first thing I noticed was the expansive streets and clean air. As befitting the center of Hokkaido, the urban yet natural landscape blended beautifully with the surroundings.

The Sapporo Beer Museum, where I learned about the history of Hokkaido's iconic brands and sampled refreshing draft beer, made my trip special from the start. A stroll through Odori Park revealed a different charm each season: the snow festival in winter, and the lush green lawns and fountains in summer.

Food is a must-try in Sapporo. The soup curry, with its rich spices and fresh vegetables, soothed my travel fatigue, and Sapporo ramen warmed me up on a cold day.

In the evening, I climbed to the observation deck of the Sapporo TV Tower to admire the city's nightscape. The endless string of twinkling lights created a romantic atmosphere. Finally, I visited Otaru, a city near Sapporo. The tranquil scenery created by the canal and stone lanterns was an experience I highly recommend.

Sapporo was a city where vibrant and peaceful coexisted. Its atmosphere, as clean as snow and as warm as the people's hearts, lingered in my memory.
