Unique Church at the Southernmost Point of Korea, Marado Church

Marado Church is located on Marado Island, the southernmost island of Korea, in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. It offers a special atmosphere with stunning ocean views.

The church is well-known as a photo spot due to its unique exterior inspired by marine creatures such as abalone, conch, and octopus (e.g., a roof resembling an abalone shell and a bell tower shaped like a sea cucumber).

To get there, you can take a ferry from Woonjin Port (or Moseulpo Port) on Jeju Island. The round trip takes about 25–30 minutes. Be sure to check the ferry schedule in advance, as the last departure from Marado is relatively early.

Currently, there is no resident priest, so the church operates as a small chapel on regular days. However, if you contact them in advance, it is possible to arrange a mass with a priest. Those planning religious events are advised to confirm beforehand.

The island is relatively small, making it ideal for exploring on foot. However, as the sea breeze can be strong and facilities are limited, it is recommended to bring a light windbreaker, drinking water, and comfortable shoes.
