🏘 [Bukchon Hanok Village, Seoul's "Northern Village" Sandwiched Between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace]
Bukchon Hanok Village is located in the heart of Seoul, surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and the Jongmyo Shrine. It's a charming, old-fashioned neighborhood where Joseon-era aristocratic mansions still remain. While still in active use, approximately 600-900 hanok (traditional houses) have been renovated into noble residences, teahouses, workshops, galleries, guesthouses, and more, creating a rich atmosphere reminiscent of a "living open-air museum."
⸻
🌿 A wealth of attractions
• Bukchon Eight Views: Eight officially designated "scenic" routes have been established, including viewpoints overlooking Changdeokgung Palace, quiet alleys lined with tiled roofs, and a combination of slopes and staircases.
• Traditional Cultural Experiences: Visit the Bukchon Traditional Culture Center and Museum, where you can participate in workshops on calligraphy, tea ceremony, hanji paper, knotting, embroidery, and more.
• Hanok Cafes & Galleries: Step through the ancient wooden gates to find tranquil teahouses, spots for enjoying home-roasted coffee, and craft shops.
• Baek In-je House Museum: A modern-day preserved mansion from the Japanese colonial period. Take a tour to learn about the mansion's design and lifestyle.
• The rare "sense of life" is also appealing: The voices of residents, sounds of daily life, laundry, mailboxes, and other authentic scenes add depth to your photos.
