This time we chose a hotel package that included tickets to the four pavilions of Guangfulin Cultural Park.
We arrived at the Shenkeng Hotel, which we had been wanting to visit for a long time. The maintenance wasn’t great, but it was still fairly clean. After dropping off our luggage, we took a car to Zhujiajiao, about a 25-minute drive costing around 40 RMB. Once in Zhujiajiao, we chose a riverside restaurant. Sitting on the second floor of the restaurant, overlooking the riverside scenery, we enjoyed rustic home-style dishes and soaked in the leisurely and cozy atmosphere of the ancient town. After the meal, we strolled along the riverbank, wandering through the town’s corners, and a nostalgic feeling of stepping back into ancient times naturally arose.
Later that evening, back at the hotel, we enjoyed the highlight of our stay: the nighttime laser and drone show. Both the kids and my husband were very happy watching it. We ordered takeout and enjoyed the show from the balcony while eating the food the kids love—it was truly a happy moment.
The next day, we visited Guangfulin Cultural Heritage Park. This park was built by the government with an investment of 20 billion RMB over ten years. The surface area is vast, with fields of rapeseed flowers and a small farm in the middle. We spent 10 RMB to buy feed to feed the sika deer and goats—cheap and fun. Then, we visited the Guangfulin Museum submerged underwater, where exhibits range from ancient times to the early Republic, fully interpreting the “roots of Shanghai.”
