Lost Horizon

China never stops to amaze me. As a foreigner living many years in China I have also travelled around a lot and I still keep finding this country extremely interesting. We rented a Chinese car brand called Tank at the airport in Kunming and drove to Shangri-La. It was my first trip to this part of Yunnan. Beautiful place that we will probably come back to. Lovely architecture, people, food and nature and then some Tibetan culture. Some of the highlights below:

🏨 we just had to stay at the Shangri-La hotel when in Shangri-La. All in all it was a good experience with comfortable rooms, nice welcome gesture by the staff and even a free birthday cake on my birthday that happened to be when we were there. Walking distance to town.

🗺️ Dukezong Ancient town. Charming town with lots of coffee shops, souvenir shops, restaurants and picture taking tourists. In the evening there is dancing in the big square. Also one of the best meals we had was hotpot just by the white pagoda.

🏯Songzanlin - one of the largest temples in Yunnan also known as little Potala palace. Build by the mountain. We had a nice time walking around, definitely one of the hotspots in Shangri-La. We also visited the nearby hotel with the famous outdoor sport clothing shop Arcteryx.
