Shennongjia in July? Really Not Recommended, I Just Want to Say~~

The truth may be harsh, but this is the reality of taking kids to Shennongjia...
Southern moms, listen up! If you want to take your kids to play in the snow, Shennongjia is a great choice!
The snow scenery here is just as stunning as Changbai Mountain! In winter, the temperature only drops to around -5 to -6°C, making it super friendly for kids from the south! Plus, you can get there directly by high-speed train 🚅, saving a lot on travel costs compared to flying to Changbai Mountain! 💰
Last year, I brought my child here, and it was his first time seeing a rime forest and a snowy sea of clouds ❄️... We even encountered wild golden snub-nosed monkeys and giant pandas 🐼, which made him so excited he started jumping around! 😂
👇 Some practical tips:
1️⃣ Daytime winter temperatures are around 0°C, so playing in the snow isn’t cold at all! Southern kids can easily adapt, so no need to worry about freezing their little hands and feet.
2️⃣ Shennongjia is in the south, so indoor heating is not common! Make sure to book a hotel with good air conditioning, or it might get chilly at night 🥶.
3️⃣ Waterproof ski suits are enough! If it’s sunny, you don’t need to dress too warmly—just a base layer and a jacket will do. Moving around will keep you warm. Don’t forget to bring some chocolate or beef jerky for the kids, as they might get hungry halfway through skiing.
4️⃣ For families with kids or beginners, I recommend the "Zhonghe Ski Resort." It has gentle slopes and soft snow, so falling doesn’t hurt. The ski resort offers children’s ski gear starting from size 28, but it’s not suitable for very young kids ⛷.
5️⃣ If there’s no snow, you can skip Jiudahu Lake. The trees are bare, and there are only a few black-and-white swans, so the scenery is quite average 🧐.
6️⃣ Highly recommend staying at the "Kangdi Junlan Hotel" 🏨 in the center of Muyu Town. It’s super convenient for dining and shopping! The service is also very thoughtful, with children’s toothbrushes and slippers provided.
7️⃣ Snowy roads are slippery! If you’re bringing kids and lack experience, don’t drive yourself! You can join a family-friendly tour like we did, which includes hotels, tickets, transportation, and parent-child activities. It’s a hundred times more hassle-free!
