[Shizuoka] 897.4m?! Japan's longest wooden bridge, Horai Bridge, built in 1879

#Spring0yenTrip
In Shimada, I headed for Horaibashi Bridge over the Oi River. On my walk from the station, I was surrounded by the quiet, laid-back townscape, and my mind naturally calmed. When I arrived at Horaibashi Bridge, I was surprised at how long it was. The wooden bridge stretches 897.4 meters straight over the river, and has a mysterious charm that makes you want to walk on it just by looking at it. When I actually crossed it, the creaking of my feet, the sound of the wind, and the gentle sound of the Oi River flowing were soothing, and time seemed to flow slowly. Looking back, the town and mountain scenery beyond the bridge spread out like a painting. Rather than a tourist spot, I felt like I was experiencing a special landscape in everyday life, and it was an unforgettable walk.
