The reason I chose this hotel for my stay was... the "Sea of ​​Clouds Terrace."

You have to take a gondola to get to the Unkai Terrace.

Basic fare for the Unkai Gondola:
Adults: ¥1,900, Elementary School Students: ¥1,200, Pets: ¥500
*Free for guests staying at Tomamu The Tower and RISONARE Tomamu

There is a shuttle bus to the gondola, but
there is also a walking course (approximately 10 minutes).

Please refer to the Hoshino Resorts Tomamu website, which announces the probability of the next day's sea of ​​clouds by 3:00 PM.

I had heard that the gondola gets crowded around 5:00 AM,
(and there was a 40-minute wait on this day)

I went around 6:00 AM instead.

▶️The Unkai Shop next to the post office has postcards with various sea of ​​clouds, so you can choose one and drop it off without a stamp.

Going down from the left side of the terrace, you'll find a place to enjoy the spectacular view from the top of the mountain even more.

▶️First up is the Cloud Bar

This observation spot, designed like a bar counter, offers spectacular views of the sea of ​​clouds and sunrise.
There's a counter about 3 meters above ground and a row of chairs, about 13 meters long.

There are two types of chairs available: single and double, and they can accommodate up to 7 people.

By climbing the ladder attached to the chair,
you can sit as if you're floating in the mountain scenery.

You'll have to wait quite a while here.

▶️Cloud Bed
This observation spot is modeled after the cloud particles that make up the clouds.
It's lined with bouncy cushions,
so you can lean back, sit, and gaze out at the sea of ​​clouds as if you're floating above them.

▶️Cloud Pool
This observation spot is shaped like a giant hammock.
It's up to 8 meters above ground 😅 so it's pretty high.
You can experience the feeling of floating above the clouds while taking in the magnificent view.
This spot also gets quite crowded.

▶️They serve "Cloud Soft Serve" and "Cloud Macarons," sweets inspired by fluffy clouds.

Enjoy cloud-themed drinks and sweets like the "Unkai Coffee" with cloud-shaped marshmallows and the "Unkai Soda" topped with cloud-like cotton candy.

You can take in the view and relax on the indoor sofas while enjoying cloud-themed drinks and sweets.

I wanted the cloud soft serve ice cream, but it was so popular there was a 20-minute wait.

I gave up and had the Unkai Soda instead.
