📍Cambodia. Terrace of the Elephants | Elephants standing quietly in Angkor Wat

At the end of the ancient Khmer city, elephants stand in a row, as if awaiting the return of their king from a thousand years ago.

The Terrace of the Elephants is a majestic yet silent relic of Angkor.

This was once where kings reviewed their armies, held ceremonies, and conducted parades.

Today, stone carvings of elephant trunks hang quietly on either side of the stone walls, as if bearing witness to the passage of time and the lingering shadows of glory.

Walking along these stone steps, each slab bears the marks of time.

Light and shadows filter through the trees onto the terraces, inviting one to pause and converse with the silent stone elephants.

Ancient civilizations constantly remind us:

Impermanence and eternity are never in conflict.

It is the quiet yet profound moments of our journey that are most moving.
