【3 days 2 nights, about 3400 RMB per person! Suzhou Guide: Small bridges and flowing water, the poetic slow life of Jiangnan gardens】
Day 1: Arrive at **Suzhou Railway Station** by high-speed train (Shanghai → Suzhou 30 minutes/39 RMB, Beijing → Suzhou about 4 hours/within 500 RMB), take a taxi to a **boutique guesthouse near Pingjiang Road** (such as Pingjiangfu, Huajiantang, 600 RMB/night). In the afternoon, stroll through the **Pingjiang Road Historic District**, watch the sampan boats glide past the stone-paved street, and listen to a Pingtan performance of "Sheng Sheng Man." In the evening, visit **Guanqian Street**, try the mute steamed buns and chicken head rice dessert, and for dinner, we recommend "Songhelou" for Suzhou cuisine.
Day 2: Early morning check-in at **Humble Administrator’s Garden** (80 RMB entrance fee, the top of China’s four famous gardens), admire the pavilions and waterside terraces, and enjoy the changing scenery with every step. Then visit the **Suzhou Museum** (free, designed by I.M. Pei, reservation required), to see the modern dialogue between geometric light and shadow and the white walls with black tiles. In the afternoon, visit **Lion Grove Garden** (40 RMB) or take a leisurely walk along **Shantang Street**, ride a boat through the Seven-Mile Gallery, and experience the "No.1 Famous Street of Gusu."
Day 3: Head to **Tongli Ancient Town** (1 hour by subway + bus, 100 RMB entrance fee including multiple small attractions), a quiet and less crowded spot, with the exquisite Retreat & Reflection Garden. In the afternoon, return to the city and visit the **Shuangta Market**—an artsy version of a food market, try the begonia cake and Su-style noodle soup. Check out before 3:00 PM and head back.
💰Budget breakdown:
Transportation (round-trip high-speed train + city subway) 1000 + Accommodation 1200 (600×2) + Food 400 + Attraction tickets 300 + Boat tickets/miscellaneous 600 ≈ **3500 RMB**
📌Tips:
- Suzhou Museum is closed on Mondays, so it’s best to visit on the second morning;
- Gardens are less crowded and have better light in the early morning, perfect for photos;
- Suzhou subway supports Alipay QR code scanning, making travel convenient.
⚠️Avoid pitfalls:
❌ Shantang Street’s main street is heavily commercialized, explore the side alleys for a more authentic experience;
❌ Be cautious when buying silverware and silk in ancient towns, as there are many traps.
Three days and two nights, immersed in the ink-wash Jiangnan with the soft Wu dialect. Suzhou is the art of gardens, the rhythm of flowing water, and the everyday elegance hidden in a bowl of noodle soup. Come here and live like a true "Gusu local" for a day.
