Shantang Street and the Canals of Suzhou

Shantang Street is a picturesque riverside promenade with a centuries-old history, stretching along the canals for 7 li (approximately 3.5 km). It is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient Suzhou and explore its unique canal culture.

The traditional architecture of the Ming and Qing dynasties has been preserved here: white walls, gray tiles, stone bridges, and winding alleys. Gondola-like boats glide along the canals, while souvenir shops, tea houses, and traditional restaurants line the promenade.

💡 Tip: Visit Shantang in the evening when red lanterns are lit, and their reflections in the water create an especially romantic atmosphere.

Address: Shantang Street, Gusu District, Suzhou
