Historical Overview of Niuchouzi Station Park

Niuchouzi Station was built during the Japanese colonial period in 1903 and is located in Shuishang Township, Chiayi County. It was named after the nearby "Niuchouzi Village." At the time, it was a small station on the Taiwan Trunk Line, primarily serving local residents and transporting agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, and sugarcane. It played a significant role in local transportation and the economy. However, as railway transportation became centralized in Chiayi City, the station's usage gradually declined, leading to its closure in 1986. The site was left abandoned for a time until local efforts transformed it into "Niuchouzi Station Park." The park retains some railway relics and features added green spaces and recreational facilities. Today, it serves not only as a leisure spot for residents but also as a reminder of Chiayi's railway history.
