Tainan Zhengtong Luermen Mazu Temple is the largest Mazu temple in the world in terms of architectural scale, covering an area of 40 hectares. It is often referred to as the "Taiwanese Forbidden City." According to legend, Mazu appeared to assist Koxinga when he landed at Luermen, and the temple houses a soft-bodied Mazu statue from the Ming Dynasty.
Notable features include the "Tucheng Xiang" incense-offering event held every three years (recognized as an intangible cultural asset of Tainan City), the Lantern Festival International High-altitude Fireworks Show, and the highly revered Yue Lao Hall. The temple's architecture is modeled after the layout of Beijing's Forbidden City, showcasing grandeur and majesty. It serves as a significant landmark for faith, culture, and tourism.
