Anping Kaitai Tianhou Temple, located in Anping, Tainan, is one of Taiwan's oldest Mazu temples. Legend has it that it was built during the Ming Zheng period (circa 1668) by Zheng Jing, son of Zheng Chenggong, to venerate Mazu, the goddess of military protection. Hence, it's known as "Kaitai." The temple, dedicated to the Heavenly Mother, is a popular destination. Despite numerous renovations, it retains the traditional Minnan architectural style, with its carved beams and painted rafters, creating a quaint and solemn atmosphere. As a religious center in Anping, it bears witness to Taiwan's early development and holds profound historical and cultural significance. It's a prime destination for visitors to explore the ancient sites and experience local beliefs.
