A slow and cultural tour of Bopiliao Street in the rain

The Bopiliao Historic District in Wanhua District, Taipei, is like stepping back in time. Its red-brick houses, arched arcades, and stone-paved alleyways perfectly preserve the neighborhood's character from the Qing Dynasty to the Japanese colonial period. Many films and TV series have been filmed here, with "Monga" being a prime example.
My favorite part is strolling through the old houses and admiring the historical exhibitions on the walls. From the bustling commercial life to the details of daily life, every step conveys the vibrant atmosphere of Wanhua in the past. In addition to static exhibitions, the district also hosts cultural and creative markets and educational activities, making history more than just a display, but a tangible and experiential part of everyday life.
For travelers, Bopiliao District is not only a great spot for photos and check-in; it also epitomizes a piece of Taipei's urban memory, a place worth savoring.
