Tamamo Park, where the ruins of Takamatsu Castle are located, still has visible moats and remnants of walls, even though the castle itself is mostly in ruins. The historical atmosphere of the Edo period and the dry landscape garden design make it worth a visit.
The moat of Takamatsu Castle is filled with seawater from the Seto Inland Sea, making it a true water castle standing above the sea. Although only the walls remain today, it is still quite majestic and impressive. You can take a boat ride around the moat to get a sense of its historical significance.
The wooden Saya Bridge, vast pine forests, and Japanese gardens are highlights of Tamamo Park. There is also the Takamatsu Castle History Museum, which showcases the site's past in detail. If you're lucky, you might even catch the nighttime light show.
