[Hokkaido] Lake Kussharo: Watch swans at Japan's largest caldera lake

#AprilGoodDestinations2025

Lake Kussharo is located in Akan-Mashu National Park in Hokkaido, Japan, and is the largest caldera lake in Japan. Lake Kussharo has a unique flavor in winter. The air is filled with a cold breath, but it also attracts many migratory birds from Siberia to live here, adding vitality to this quiet lake.

There is a small shop by the lake that sells a variety of Hokkaido specialties, and you can also buy popcorn and feed the swans yourself. When I watched swans from a distance I thought they were very graceful, but I didn't expect they were so ferocious when fighting for food.
