Right now! My impression of Tianjin hotels is going up up!!!

The St. Regis Tianjin

🏘️ Room Type/Layout: The city-view room is spacious, approximately 60 sqm, but features a unique L-shaped corner design. This layout makes the desk and lounge chair placement slightly cramped, with some furniture positioned in corners. However, the distinctive spatial structure adds a special layered feel to the room.

🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The hotel's exterior, meticulously designed by SOM, showcases a striking hollow cube design that cleverly echoes the "Jinmen" concept, making it highly iconic. The interior lobby, crafted by KCA (the firm behind Dubai's Burj Al Arab), exudes the St. Regis brand's elegant style. The hotel boasts exceptional views, with its back door leading directly to the popular Dagu Bridge photo spot on the Haihe River. Rooms offer either river or expansive city views, while the restaurant's outdoor area provides a 180-degree river vista. Nearby, trendy riverside bars create a vibrant nighttime atmosphere. However, the hardware facilities show signs of aging, with limited smart devices and a more traditional decor and furniture style. Some items, like the lounge chairs, show wear. Rooms lack a fridge and coffee machine, with only two bottles of water provided. The gym and pool retain their older designs.

🧹 Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Overall cleanliness is acceptable, though the restaurant's details could be improved, and dining areas need better maintenance.

💰 Cost per Person: With rates in the triple digits, it offers great value for a Marriott luxury brand, making it ideal for budget-conscious travelers.

💗 Other Tips: The hotel offers butler service, including 24-hour coffee/tea and two-item pressing. However, coffee quality and tableware could be upgraded, and the butler service communication differs from other St. Regis properties, lacking instant messaging. As a Marriott member, even with prior communication and available rooms, upgrades were limited, and facility/activity introductions were lacking at check-in. The breakfast selection is modest, with average flavors and presentation, missing St. Regis signatures like fresh orange juice.

The St. Regis Tianjin stands out for its prime location and unique architecture, offering unmatched advantages as one of the most affordable St. Regis hotels globally. It suits guests seeking value without strict luxury demands. But if you prioritize high-end facilities, personalized service, or distinctive dining, you may want to reconsider. This stay revealed its charm and areas for growth.
