Exploring Tokyo Shibamata Old Street: The old dream of Showa hidden in time🎞️

#TokyoItinerary

My dears, outside the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, there is a place that is like a paradise - Shibamata Old Street, which is simply a pure land in this world!

🎬It is the filming location of the movie "Tora-kun's Story", carrying a lot of memories of the older generation of Japanese. Just strolling around, you seem to be walking into that classic movie and feel the warmth of the Showa era.

This old street is not long, but it is full of Showa style. Once you step in, you will instantly relax and feel a sense of intimacy. The attractions are very dense and you can leisurely visit them in half a day.

🚇From Ueno, Tokyo, it only takes about 30 minutes by train to reach Shibamata Station on the Keisei Kanamachi Line. As soon as you exit Shibamata Station, you can see the bronze statue of Torajiro, and a few steps further ahead is the Taishakuten sando. The old street is lined with old houses left over from the Meiji era, and there are all kinds of local specialty snack shops, selling grass dumplings, yokan, senbei, Dorayaki, etc. (Ps: If time permits, you can also arrange a Japanese confectionery experience and follow the chef from a century-old shop to knead dumplings and make Japanese confectionery‼) There is also a snack and toy museum nearby. The grocery store sells childhood snacks, Daruma, posters and other items, and traces of the old times are hidden everywhere.

At the end of the approach is the Indra Teikyo-ji Temple. On weekdays, there are just the right number of people coming here to worship; it’s neither crowded nor deserted, and it’s leisurely and relaxed.

The streets around here are quiet and peaceful, with a strong sense of life and a slow pace, which is rare in a fast-paced city like Tokyo. As you stroll through it, time seems to slow down, and you can feel the most authentic form of life with every step.
