Explore Shibuya + Shimokitazawa

Start with Shibuya first, as it’s a landmark everyone must visit to take photos at Shibuya Crossing, the largest pedestrian scramble in the world. It’s truly spectacular! We recommend going up to the second floor of Starbucks for a beautiful high-angle shot, then continue walking to Shibuya Sky to enjoy a 360° view of Tokyo. The sunset in the evening is stunning. After that, stop by Shibuya Scramble Square for some shopping, and don’t forget to try famous spots like Uobei Sushi (conveyor belt sushi) or Ichiran Ramen—you have to experience it!

Then take the train just a few stops to Shimokitazawa, the ultimate hipster zone full of trendy cafes, vintage clothing stores, and vinyl records. It’s super chill. We came across the famous coffee shop Ballon D’Essai, where the latte art is absolutely amazing! Fashion lovers will adore this place because there are plenty of quality secondhand shops (prices are much better than Harajuku).

Tips you should know

Using the Tokyo Metro Day Pass is very cost-effective since you’ll be taking the train multiple times.

If you want to photograph Shibuya Crossing without crowds, go early before 9 AM.

Shimokitazawa has many cafes; if you want a good view seat, get there before noon.

If you love secondhand clothes, bring some cash as many shops don’t accept cards.

Summary: Shibuya = the vibrant energy of Tokyo, Shimokitazawa = the chill spot for cool people. If you like variety, you can get both vibes in one day!
