Tokyo World Of Miniatures. It is a small world after all!!

If you are in Tokyo with family especially small children you have to check out the miniatures museum, located in Tokyo bay this is the perfect morning or afternoon activity for the whole family. The museum is set over two floors and contains some of the biggest small model cities I have ever seen, the detail is incredible and they vary from the kennedy space station to full replicas of Hong Kong streets. I was really impressed by how interactive all the exhibits are and most of them have buttons you can press to make things happen in the models.

There is a lot of niche stuff specific to anime, pokemen and other Japanese themes but overall it is fun for people from all countries. There are lots of transport themed areas and the highlight for me was the full working replica of Osaka Kansai airport. Airplanes come in from the walls and land on the runways, taxi to the stands and then taxi back to the runway to take off again. It was amazing!

There is also a very good gift shop for toys, miniatures and souvenirs - with lots of it related to things you have seen in the museum. There is an onsite workshop which is fascinating, you can see the workers making or repairing exhibits for the museum. The museum also has onsite toilets, a restaurant and very good wifi!

You can book the tickets online with trip, show the QR code for entry. For transport you can take the Yurikamome line and get off at either Ariake or Ariaketennisnomori station as the museum is in between them.
