If you’re a fan of architecture and fine arts, Meiji Seimei Kan in Tokyo is a must-visit. This Western-style building, completed in 1934, took over 3 years to construct and was designed by Shinichiro Okada, a professor at what is now Tokyo University of the Arts.
Regarded as a masterpiece of classicism, it played a pivotal role in the development of modern Western-style architecture in Japan. In fact, in 1997, it became the first Showa-era building designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
The elegant exterior and beautiful interior truly make it feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Inside, you’ll find the Seikado Bunko Art Museum, home to priceless cultural artifacts and historical works.
