Kinosaki Onsen, located in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a famous hot spring town boasting a history of 1,300 years.
It's famous for its "bath-hopping culture," where visitors clamber from seven outdoor baths clattering about in yukata and geta sandals. This atmospheric hot springs town feels like a time-travel back to the Edo period, with the warm glow of lanterns illuminating the path at night.
Each bath offers its own unique charm: Satonoyu offers a modern panoramic bath in front of the station, Ichinoyu a cave bath, and Goshonoyu where you can bathe while admiring the waterfall.
After your bath, we recommend strolling along the willow-lined riverside and snacking on hot spring manju and ice cream.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Kinosaki Onsen → Visit the outdoor baths (Sato-no-yu, Ichi-no-yu, Gosho-no-yu, etc.) → Stroll along Kiyamachi Street
Day 2: Morning bath → Visit Onsen-ji Temple via Kinosaki Ropeway → Izushi soba lunch
🍴 Food Spots
・Tajima beef sukiyaki (ryokans and restaurants around Kinosaki Onsen Station)
