Hidden Scenic Spot in Nagano: Utsukushigahara Highland

Utsukushigahara Highland is a plateau located in the northwestern part of Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park, spanning Matsumoto City, Ueda City, and Nagawa Town in Nagano Prefecture. It is also one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains.

The expansive grasslands feature a ranch and the popular photo spot, Utsukushi-no-Tou (Tower of Beauty). Early mornings are particularly magical, with mist creating a dreamy atmosphere.

It’s about a one-hour drive from downtown Matsumoto.
