🏖️Overview:
To climb Mount Takanosu, you first need to take a ferry ⛴️ to Tomogashima. The ferry operated by Tomogashima Kisen departs from Kada Port in Wakayama and takes about 20 minutes to reach the island. On the island 🏝️, there are restrooms and vending machines, but as there is only one food stall near the dock, it is recommended to bring your own meal 🍱. The island itself is rich in tourist attractions, particularly historical sites like gun batteries and lighthouses 💡, so it is advisable to allocate ample time for hiking 🥾.
💞Recommended Reasons:
When exploring Tomogashima, it is recommended to refer to the tourist map 🗺️ available at the ferry ticket counter 🎫 or the management office beforehand. With an elevation of only about 120 meters, the climb is relatively easy. The summit ⛰️ offers a stunning observation deck with panoramic views of the Kitan Strait, as well as the mountains of Shikoku, Rokko, and Izumi-Katsuragi. I also visited the first sutra mound of Katsuragi Shugendo, "Akai-ato" 🪦, but please note that you need to obtain a permit from the management office to enter ⚠️.
