U.S. Capitol Guided Tour

I visited the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC and registered for the official guided tour. Tours are offered in several languages, but I chose English. I arrived a little late, but it was easy to switch to the next available time slot without any problem.

Security felt similar to the airport. For example, they didn’t allow water inside, even in bottles, which I found a bit unusual. Once inside, everything was organized into different lines for the various language groups.

I joined the English tour, where we were given headphones connected to the guide’s microphone, making it easy to hear her even in crowded spaces. The experience started with a 30-minute introductory film about U.S. history, followed by about an half hour-long guided walk through some of the visitor-accessible rooms of the Capitol.

I really enjoyed learning more about the history and seeing the building from the inside. If you’re interested in U.S. politics, architecture, or history, this tour is worth your time.
