• Yandang Mountain Scenic Area: One of China's top ten famous mountains, named for its "lake atop the peak, reed-filled marshes where autumn geese dwell." This primarily refers to North Yandang Mountain, divided into Jingming, Lingfeng, Yanhu, and more. Don't miss the three must-see attractions: Dalongqiu Waterfall, Lingfeng Night View, and Lingyan Flying Show. Various ticket packages are available, such as Route A (Lingfeng + Lingyan + Dalongqiu) for ¥170, Route B for ¥200, valid for 2 days. Lingfeng Night View costs ¥50 separately, and Xianshengmen is ¥15. Internal transportation is convenient, with sightseeing buses at ¥40/day covering eight major scenic spots.
• Jiangxin Islet: Located in the middle reaches of the Ou River north of Wenzhou's urban area, it's one of China's four famous islets. The islet boasts stunning scenery with its East and West Pagodas towering over the river, complementing Jiangxin Temple, earning it the nickname "Penglai of the Ou River." Admission is ¥25, and the water park costs ¥120. Ferries are available, and multiple city buses reach Jiangxin Pier.
• Nanxi River Scenic Area: Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and ancient villages. Enjoy bamboo rafting on the crystal-clear river, admiring the scenic views along the banks, and exploring hidden ancient villages. Take a 1-hour bus from Wenzhou Bus Station to Yongjia. For bamboo rafting, the 4 PM session is recommended, priced around ¥120.
• Dongtou Scenic Area: A lush, leisure-friendly island offering spectacular sea views, unique rock formations, and charming beaches, complete with full recreational facilities.
• Nanji Islands: Comprising 52 islands, celebrated for their stunning marine scenery and well-preserved ecosystem. As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it's rich in marine biodiversity, making it an ideal destination for ocean exploration.
Tips to Avoid Pitfalls
• Tickets: Avoid combo tickets at Yandang Mountain; single-entry tickets (¥70-90) for 2-3 classic spots suffice. Skip the ¥30 bamboo milk tea at Jiangxin Islet's entrance—vendors along the descent sell the same for ¥15.
• Transportation: Wenzhou South Station is far from downtown (40 mins by bus); Wenzhou Station is preferable. To Dongtou, take a bus or taxi from downtown, or charter a car (negotiate prices in advance).
• Dining & Lodging: Food in Yandang is pricey—pack snacks. For Jiangxin Islet, stay on-island or downtown (more options, better transport), taking ferries as needed.
Transport Recommendations
• Getting to Wenzhou: Fly to Wenzhou Longwan International Airport (far from downtown; take airport shuttle from the rail station). Alternatively, take a high-speed train to Wenzhou South Station, then transfer by bus/taxi to downtown.
• Local Transport: Attractions are spread out—rent a car, use buses/taxis, or hop on tourist shuttles (e.g., Yandang's sightseeing buses for ¥40/day).
Accommodation
• Downtown: Choose from various hotels and B&Bs (e.g., Wenzhou Narada Hotel, centrally located near Wuma Street) with easy access to food and transport.
• Scenic Areas: For Yandang, stay in Xianglingtou Village (B&Bs ~¥100/person, steps from Lingfeng Night View). On Jiangxin Islet, opt for on-island stays to savor its tranquility and beauty.
