Mount Wutai will really punish anyone who doesn’t plan ahead!!!
✔️Day 1: Wuye Temple - Tayuan Temple - Xiantong Temple - Pusa Peak - Dailuo Peak
Wuye Temple, a bustling place of worship with strong incense offerings, wishes come true here! Feel the deep devotion and prayers of the faithful!
Tayuan Temple, the Great White Pagoda is stunning, walk around the pagoda to pray and listen to the gentle Buddhist chants!
Xiantong Temple, one of Mount Wutai’s “Five Great Chan Sites,” see the Bronze Hall and the Infinite Hall, and touch the weight of history!
Pusa Peak, 108 steps to the top, overlook the entire Taihuai Town, experience the grandeur of the “Little Potala Palace”!
In the evening, climb Dailuo Peak; if you don’t have time for the “Great Chaotai,” take the “Small Chaotai,” 1080 steps, every step a practice!
✔️Day 2: Shuxiang Temple - Pusuo Temple (Nuns’ Buddhist Academy) - Fomu Cave - Fanxian Mountain
Shuxiang Temple, see the exquisite suspended statue of Manjushri Bodhisattva, listen to the lingering sutra chanting~
Pusuo Temple, feel the atmosphere of the nuns’ practice; if open for visits, don’t miss this peacefulness!
Fomu Cave, a “rebirth” experience; climbing is tiring, but crawling through the cave is wonderfully surreal (safety first)!
Fanxian Mountain, very popular for seeking love; the view from the summit is breathtaking, and the legends are fascinating~
✔️Day 3: Dongtai Wanghai Peak (watch the sunrise!) - Xitai Guayue Peak - Nantai Jinxiu Peak - Beitai Yedou Peak - Zhongtai Cuiyan Peak (arrange if time/energy allows)
Get up early to rush to Dongtai for the sunrise, sea of clouds with morning glow, stunning beyond words!
Visit other peaks depending on time and energy: Xitai for sunset, Nantai for flower seas, Beitai is the highest, Zhongtai is tranquil; each hides the magnificent beauty of Mount Wutai~
✔️Accommodation: Taihuai Town! Choose a guesthouse near Wuye Temple and Tayuan Temple, just a few minutes’ walk, super convenient, quieter for temple visits early morning and evening!
✔️Food:
Temple vegetarian meals! For example, the vegetarian meals at the Dailuo Peak abbot’s residence, with Tai mushrooms buns and vegetarian noodles, light and full of Zen flavor!
Taihuai Town snacks! Youmian Kaolaolao with lamb soup, warm and comforting; brown sugar crisp cakes, millet porridge, full of local flavor!
