8.5Km Night Ride around Wuxi Ancient Canal Loop – A Cultural Journey

Wuxi's tourism resources are mainly divided into two distinctive areas:

1. Taihu-Lihu Ecological Scenic Area (Core attractions in Binhu District)

• Core scenic spots: Yuantouzhu, Liyuan, and Meiyuan form the "Taihu Pearl" trio

• Film and TV culture: The Three Kingdoms and Water Margin City recreates historical scenes, and Lingshan Scenic Area establishes a Buddhist cultural landmark

• Ecological corridor: Nianhuawan Zen Town connects with Shibawan Wetland, Changguangxi Wetland, and 12 other ecological parks in a chain

2. Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Cultural Belt (Historical axis of Liangxi District)

• Ancient town charm: Huishan Ancient Town boasts a unique "river in front, mountain behind" layout, with the canal running through the town

• Water alley clusters: Qingming Bridge historic cultural district includes six major water alleys such as Nanchan Temple and Nanchang Street; Nanchang Street, a filming location for the Spring Festival Gala, showcases the model of "Jiangnan water alleys"

• City ring water system: Forms the nation's only "through-city + around-city" dual-form canal, shaping the "Turtle Back City" spatial pattern

Canal Loop Featured Experience

• The 8.5-kilometer loop fully opened in 2023, integrating walking, cycling, and jogging experiences

• Night tour test: On August 15, a 10-kilometer ride took 1 hour and 50 minutes (including detours)

• Route comparison:

• East line highlights: Equipped with light shows, water screen projections, starry sky trails, and other technological landscapes, connecting over 20 historical sites such as Old East Gate and Beicangmen

• West line positioning: Community-style leisure trail, with some detours on municipal roads

• Bridge wonders: 37 distinctive bridges distributed along the route, with creative transformations of bridge tunnels into mini parks, historical reliefs, and other cultural display points
