Who understands! The sea of clouds sunrise and morning mist in Hongcun are so stunning they leave you speechless 😭
Here’s a carefully tested, no-fail guide with a 100% photo success rate—lazy travelers can just copy it!
🚗【Itinerary】
▫️D1: Huangshan North Station → Tunxi Old Street
Take the bus directly from the station to Tunxi (20 RMB/person), stay in a Hui-style guesthouse with horse-head walls right outside your window! Spend the afternoon strolling the old street, trying Mao tofu and Huizhou cakes. At dusk, rush to the “Old Street’s First Building” and be sure to order the stinky mandarin fish! So fresh you’ll want to stomp your feet~
▫️D2: Huangshan South Gate → Yungu Temple Cableway → Shixin Peak → Beihai Hotel
Enter the mountain at 7 AM to avoid crowds! Take the Yungu cableway up (80 RMB), then a 20-minute walk to Shixin Peak. The Black Tiger Pine and Monkey Watching the Sea spots are perfect for photos~ Stay at Beihai Hotel in the afternoon, and at dusk head to Qingliang Terrace for sunset and sea of clouds views. With luck, you might see the Golden Summit!
▫️D3: Danxia Peak Sunrise → West Sea Grand Canyon → Bright Summit → Baiyun Hotel
Rush to Danxia Peak at 5 AM! Wearing Hanfu for sunrise photos is amazing~ In the morning, hike the West Sea Grand Canyon plank road for breathtaking aerial canyon views—drone recommended! At noon, climb Bright Summit (Huangshan’s highest point), and watch the sky fill with sunset clouds in the evening~
▫️D4: Aoyu Peak → Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder → Welcoming Pine → Hongcun
In the morning, climb the Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder (a bit steep but great for photos), check in at Welcoming Pine (a must-shoot classic spot), then take the Yuping cableway down (90 RMB). In the afternoon, carpool to Hongcun (30 RMB/person), and at dusk capture the night scene of Nanhu Moon Pond with its beautiful light reflections~
▫️D5: Hongcun Morning Mist → Xidi → Return Trip
Wake up at 5:30 AM to shoot Hongcun’s morning mist! Take aerial shots of the whole village from Leigang Mountain, and shoot ancient-style photos in the carved hall of Chengzhi Hall~ In the morning, wear Hui-style costumes for a photoshoot (100 RMB/hour). In the afternoon, take a light hike in Xidi, buy some Huimo ink and dried bamboo shoots as souvenirs, then head back in the evening~
📸【Top Photo Spots】
1. Shixin Peak: Pine trees + sea of clouds, full of backlight atmosphere
2. Qingliang Terrace: Sunset center stage, rolling sea of clouds is super soothing
3. Hongcun Leigang Mountain: Overlooking the whole village, morning mist looks like ink painting
4. West Sea Grand Canyon Plank Road: Aerial perspective, capturing canyon depth
5. Moon Pond: Nighttime lights on, reflecting Hui-style architecture
💡【Pitfall Avoidance Tips】
✅ Bring non-slip shoes for the steep steps! Raincoat is a must on rainy days (very expensive on the mountain)
✅ No need to bring too much water; guesthouses provide hot water. Snacks like energy bars are enough
✅ Hongcun tickets are valid for 3 days, don’t buy and leave on the same day
✅ Hanfu photoshoots are cheaper at small village shops, about half the price of those at the scenic area entrance
✅ Arrange carpool rides in advance through guesthouse owners, more reliable than roadside hailing
💰【Budget Reference】(1500 RMB per person)
Tickets: Huangshan 190 + Hongcun 104 + Xidi 95 = 389 RMB
Transport: High-speed train + bus + carpool ≈ 400 RMB
Accommodation: Hui-style guesthouse 4 nights ≈ 500 RMB
Meals: 80 RMB/day, 5 days 400 RMB
Others: Cableways 170 + photoshoot 100 ≈ 270 RMB
Huangshan’s beauty is truly worth the trip! Sea of clouds, sunrise, ancient villages—all in one stop. Once you’ve been, you’ll never forget it~
