The entire trail is filled with the fragrance of cypress - Taipingshan Hemlock Forest Trail

The Hemlock Forest Trail is located in the heart of Taipingshan Villa. This trail is the highlight of Taipingshan and was my favorite walk of the day. Surrounded by giant hemlock and cypress trees 🌲🌲, be sure to pay attention to the broken logs near your feet and sniff them closely. The rich cypress fragrance is truly soothing. I could smell the broken logs as soon as I saw them, and even my friends were curious about what it smelled like 🤣.

The only caveat is that the second half of the trail is more challenging, with many steep steps that can be tough on your knees. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and assess your stamina.

🧗 Atmosphere/Facilities:
The trail entrance is at the top of the stairs next to Taipingshan Villa, right next to the temple. The first half is gentle, but the second half is a series of steep steps, making it a bit more strenuous. However, the views of the giant trees along the way are spectacular. The trail is approximately 1.3 kilometers long and takes about two hours round trip. The observation deck at the end offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the mountains. On clear days, the sacred ridges of Shei-Pa National Park, including Nanhu Dashan and the Snow Mountain Circle Valley, are clearly visible. It's the perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise and the sea of clouds! 🌅

Taipingshan Villa Service Station: This is the heart of the park, featuring a restaurant, cafe, and a canteen. After the trail, enjoy a cup of coffee at the "Sea of Clouds Cafe" and soak in the mountain views. ☕

Central Stairs (Red Leaf Trail): Ascending from the Taipingshan Villa parking lot, you'll pass a long central staircase lined with purple maple trees. In autumn, the entire staircase is dyed a vibrant red, creating a truly romantic and photogenic photo spot! 🍁

Bengbeng Station: Located right next to the Taipingshan Villa service station, you can take the cute yellow train to the Maoxing Nostalgic Trail for a fun forest adventure. 🚂

Cypress Primeval Forest Trail: Located behind Taipingshan Villa, this trail is home to one of Taiwan's largest cypress forests, filled with numerous bizarrely shaped giant trees.

⚠️ Tip: We recommend parking your car at the Taipingshan Villa parking lot and then walking through the Central Stairs and Hemlock Forest Trail in that order. After descending, rest at the Cloud Sea Cafe. Finally, decide whether to take the Bengbeng Trolley. This will ensure a smoother journey!

🕰️ Opening Hours:
The trail is open 24/7, but due to the high altitude and early dark, it's recommended to start your hike before 3:00 PM to return safely before dark.
